Following a course of EMDR therapy it was decided that the Bipolar II first diagnosed in the mid 80’s was incorrect, and years of lithium were largely unnecessary.
It appears PTSD is often mis-diagnosed by psych staff looking to pigeon-hole patients and aggressive drug therapy masks the symptoms.
I’m still visited by my black dog, but I’m now better equipped to control it. Turning gave me the courage and clarity of thought to challenge the psych establishment.
