We all have a story about how we got into woodturning. It could have been for any of a hundred reasons or more.
Many turners have contacted me since I announced this new workshop space and expressed how turning has helped them with depression, anxiety and PTSD. Indeed, since taking up turning myself, I have found that it helps incredibly with my ‘inner demons’ and find that when turning, all else seems to fade away to nothingness; Leaving me with the lathe, some wood and some tools creating something.
I’d love to hear your story about how you got into turning and share it with other supporters. We’re all different, yet share such a huge common ground. The turning community is an amazingly supportive place to be, and I, like many others are in a ‘different place’ now compared to where I was before I found turning.
If you would like to share your story, please fill out the form below, perhaps with a low-resolution image attachment of something you have turned recently, I’ll post it on the site as a new blog post. If you don’t want to use your real name or email address, use a false one if you wish! No problem!
Please only use this form for sharing your turning stories as the site automatically collects email and holds them for moderation before posting them to the site. Please use the form on the contact page for general contact and information. Thanks.
